The secret of the Nikon N60 35mm SLR Film Camera lies in the 3D matrix metering system (which many other new camera's have, but I believe Nikon has perfected). When the camera is set to automatic, shutter priority, or aperture priority, the in-camera light meter takes a reading from six areas in the frame at different depths. This system is invaluable for many people who might not fully understand the effects of light intensity and film exposure. A professional photographer can usually set a pretty good exposure manually for a scene with much light variance. This, however, takes many years of experience, and the 3D matrix metering system will compensate the exposure to give you detail in the darker areas while still not overexposing the brighter areas. This results in bluer skies when outdoors, more detail in shadows, and fast metering when there's not time to set the exposure manually. In addition to the 3D matrix metering the N60 has a fully manual mode, and four other time-saving settings (sport mode, nighttime mode, portrait mode, and close-up mode). I find that I don't often use them but they are there when I need them. The N60 has a built in flash unit which is useful for a little fill-in flash during the daytime and also has enough range for some fairly distant flash photographs.Since I often shoot at nighttime one of my favorite features is the long-time exposure mode. Some SLR camera's shutter speeds will not go beyond 30 seconds, but the N60 has the capacity for a 30 hour exposure (with new batteries). Thirty hours is probably more than anyone will ever need but I often use one to two minute exposures and my Nikon makes it easier than ever. For the average photographer the N60 is a must-buy item.The Quantaray lens is free of haze, chips, cracks or oil and is in great condition.
